Chapter 4 Summary
Chapter four explains Frankenstein’s development after two years at college, and shows how his level of maturity and anxiety lead him to ponder pursuing an experiment. Frankenstein had begun to grow his knowledge, and his growth had earned him a name in the university. However, Frankenstein was still hungry for fame and name. He Started to take interest in the human body, studying the behavior and mechanics of a human. His new fascination of the human body soon tied into his former fascination of creation, so inevitably Frankenstein started to put his knowledge and interests together. He study nights on end, discovering the secrets of human life. His knowledge continued to grow, and although at first he was skeptical to create an almost forbidding task, the incredible desire of fame through creation grew in his heart to an almost fatal level. Frankenstein couldn’t control himself, and his whole life motive quickly evolved into the creation of human life. |
Chapter 5 Summary
The incredible start to chapter five opens with Frankenstein in state of shock as he had finally finished creating his first creation- the monster of Frankenstein. As the monster awakened a feeling of gratitude and accomplishment swept Frankenstein, but unfortunately this feeling was less than temporary. It wasn’t long before the inhumanly actions and size of the monster from his own creation terrified Frankenstein into madness. The following morning from the monsters birth, Frankenstein awakens to the monster in his face! Frankenstein is in such fear that he stocks of as soon as possible, to afraid to ever return to such a monster. Head spinning, Frankenstein somehow managed to reach the address of his old time friend Clerval, and is fortunate to find acceptance in Clerval’s company. Frankenstein brings Clerval home with him, and as his scattered soul shivvers to acquaint with the monster again, he is relieved when he finds the monster has disappeared. Somehow the turn of events that had happened so quickly got to Frankenstein, and he soon turned freakishly mad. Clerval diagnosed Frankenstein ill, and ended the chapter taking endless care of his mysteriously scattered friend. |
