Frankenstein and Me; our similarities through different aspects of life.
“The only characters I ever don't like are ones that leave no impression on me. And I don't write characters that leave no impression on me.” - Lauren DeStefano
` While reading Frankenstein, a most fascinating book by Mary Shelley, I couldn't help to acknowledge the similarities in my life to that of Frankenstein and all the characters. This showed me how literature is still constantly relating to our lives, even through the most unexpected circumstances. Who would have thought that I, a mostly innocent young fourteen year old girl, could have any relations to such a profound monstrous character of the monster, or could have share similar struggles with a mad scientists. I personally did not expect to experience the close similarities that I did. Through the four main themes of the book; the effects of isolation, nature's impact in healing, the quest and desire for knowledge, and ethics in scientific research I kept connecting the character's experiences to my own reality. This book really opened up my eyes to people, showing me that even the most obscure people may be relative to me, persevering through the same struggles and life concepts as I do. Reading Frankenstein really helped me to take a look at my own life, comparing the my life to the newly acquainted characters in Frankenstein.
